Born in Lisbon on June 13, 1888, Fernando António Nogueira Pessoa was a poet, philosopher, playwright, essayist, translator, publicist, astrologer, inventor, businessman, commercial correspondent, literary critic and political commentator. He died in the same city where he was born, on November 30, 1935, leaving an inescapable legacy in Portuguese culture.
